National Distinction: Youth For Challenge Awarded at the 2025 Youth Oscars

August 26, 2025 marks a defining milestone in the history of our organization. Gathered at the Palais des Congrès in Cotonou for the official ceremony of the 2025 Youth OSCARS hosted by the Ministry of Sports of Benin, the NGO Youth For Challenge was celebrated among the top 36 youth organizations in the Republic of Benin.
This national distinction was accompanied by the presentation of an official public grant check in the amount of 1,200,000 XOF, awarded by the Beninese government in recognition of the measurable grassroots impact of our community initiatives.
A Recognition Rewarding Seven Years of Grassroots Commitment Established to champion civic excellence, the national Youth Oscars competition honors organizations distinguished by public utility, sound governance, and strong community anchoring. Youth For Challenge earned the jury's praise through a comprehensive set of rigorous evaluation criteria: - Direct and measurable impact: over 1,402 students and young apprentices empowered through forward-thinking civic education, road safety, and gender equality programs; - Decentralized geographic presence: ongoing initiatives in semi-urban and rural communities across 10 municipalities (Mono, Zou, Collines, and Alibori departments), far beyond the urban coastal hubs; - Institutional and financial integrity: certified traceability procedures, published activity reports, and participatory governance; - Active gender parity: meaningful inclusion of young women across field volunteering teams and leadership bodies.
A Public Grant Immediately Reinvested in Community Programs The 1,200,000 XOF public grant was fully allocated to co-finance field operations of the flagship Allô Citoyen program. It funded modern pedagogical gear for emergency first-aid and road safety modules, didactic guidebooks distributed free of charge to students and apprentices, custom shirts for the new "Pupilles de la Paix" clubs, and transportation logistics for mobile facilitators traveling to remote areas.
"A Tremendous Springboard for Greater Responsibility" Speaking after the award ceremony, Youth For Challenge Executive Coordinator Lauréano Bede highlighted the team's relentless field commitment: "This national award is not a passive finish line, but a tremendous springboard for greater responsibility. It honors the selfless dedication of our volunteers who travel every day across our municipalities to meet teenagers in classrooms, metalwork workshops, sewing ateliers, and garages. Receiving this vote of confidence from our country's highest youth authorities proves that our vision of active, grassroots citizenship is the right path forward."
Advancing the Path of Transformative Civic Leadership Empowered by this national recognition, Youth For Challenge reaffirms its dedication to building sustainable civic futures alongside local municipalities, institutional partners (Republican Police, National Road Safety Center, National Women's Institute), and civil society. The journey continues with unwavering conviction that civic education, solidarity, and youth awakening are the foundations of sustainable development.
